About Production Rates

Before we continue, let’s get a better understanding of just how production rates are utilized in our Paint System Builder.

The intent of the Paint System Builder isn’t to try to list hundreds of paint items containing different information but rather to simplify the entering of information in order to create a system that is real.

For instance, if you desire to create a system for a painted sheetrock wall, just make a choice from the  Paint Type dropdown in each Coat area. So, instead of choosing an item such as Sherwin Williams Satin Paint, we would choose a Paint Type such as Drywall Walls/Fascias Prime or Drywall Walls/Fascias Finish.

Each of the Paint Type choices has common sense information that can be changed easily, such as Item $CoverageProduction Rate, etc. All choices are defaulted to a Prod Rate % of 100% of the type of painted surface.

If the wall isn’t really a wall, but is a drywall window sill wall at say, 3′ in height, we’d still make these choices because the paint type would still be applied to a drywalled wall. But, what we would do is, change the Prod Rate % to something more like 33%, instead of the default of 100%.

What changes things are the production rates. We have helpers along the way regarding production rates of substrates. If you ever get stuck, feel free to write us at harry@estimatingschool.com or call at 603-263-0345.
